Juntos Hacemos Possible Los Sueños
“Juntos hacemos possible los sueños (Together we make dreams possible)” is the motto on the Centro Memorial Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. brochure, which I picked up during my recent visit to Cuba. The words resonated with me, as I feel this motto is also a part of the Friends School of Minnesota mission.
My Trip to Cuba
In November, I traveled to Cuba with a group of 22 people to participate in two separate mission trips connecting the Episcopal church of Minnesota and the Episcopal church in Cuba. It was great to be back in Cuba!
Bayou Poetry Café a Big Hit!
Every year, Friends School of Minnesota third and fourth graders host an evening Poetry Café for friends and family. Students present the Writers Workshop poems they spent the fall writing and serve treats to raise money for charity. This year’s Bayou classroom Poetry Café was a big hit!
Why a School Bags and Sells Coffee
About every six weeks or so the Friends School of Minnesota building fills with the fabulous aroma of coffee beans; it’s a coffee-bagging day for the 7th and 8th graders. The school orders bulk coffee from local coffee roaster/distributor Peace Coffee. Their coffee is organically and shade-grown, and is purchased under fair trade conditions. And it’s delicious! 8th Grade Capstone Project
Friends School of Minnesota 8th graders have begun working on their capstone project. This annual project gives each 8th grade class an opportunity to work together on a project that reflects the mission of Friends School and has a lasting impact on the school community, grounds, or climate.
