Sixth Graders Prepare School Compost for Winter

Last Friday, sixth grade students learned about and worked the school’s compost.  As they have been for the last seven years, the sixth grade class is responsible for running Friends School of Minnesota’s school-wide composting program. Please donate gently-used winter clothing for residents of the Pine Ridge Reservation who are experiencing a harsh and early winter. Raking Leaves for Elders Service Project

Last Saturday, 30 Friends School of Minnesota students, teachers, alumni, and parents spent the morning raking leaves to help senior citizens in our community. The Hamline-Midway Elders organization identified neighborhood folks who needed a hand with their fall yard work. FSMN volunteers gathered at the school, rakes in hand, and got to work. Two crews spent four hours tidying five yards and hauling mountains of leaves to the compost.    .. Read More

April Prairie Restoration at Coldwater Spring

Friends School of Minnesota 5th and 6th graders made their second to last field trip of the school year to Coldwater Spring on April 26th. Students went on a series of monthly field trips to various locations along the Mississippi as part of the 5/6 interdisciplinary unit about the Mississippi river.

Project Home: Volunteer Sign-up and Product Drive

We are the Middle School Student Council, and we are doing a product drive and looking to recruit volunteers for Project Home during the entire month of March. Project Home is an organization made up of volunteers that houses homeless families for 30 days per site in local churches. They support the overflow from Homeless Shelters.
