Veronica Guevara - Spanish Teacher
Veronica was Friends School of Minnesota's Spanish teacher 2005-2012.
The 8th grade are off to the BWCA for a week canoeing and camping with YMCA Camp Menogyn. They left early Monday morning as clouds parted after a rainy night, making a nice drive up the North Shore.
Friends School of Minnesota 5th and 6th graders had a great three night trip to YMCA Camp St. Croix and to Lake Country School Land School in Wisconsin. The focus was environmental education but as with all school trips, everyone learned so much more about working together, communicating, and building community.
This week, my seventh and eighth grade Spanish students finished up our projects on Puerto Rico, recreating an open air market, Plaza las Americas.
“Juntos hacemos possible los sueños (Together we make dreams possible)” is the motto on the Centro Memorial Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. brochure, which I picked up during my recent visit to Cuba. The words resonated with me, as I feel this motto is also a part of the Friends School of Minnesota mission.
In November, I traveled to Cuba with a group of 22 people to participate in two separate mission trips connecting the Episcopal church of Minnesota and the Episcopal church in Cuba. It was great to be back in Cuba!
