Simplicity, stewardship and water were the themes of Friends School of Minnesota’s 21st Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration. Over 700 parents, alumni, relatives, Friends, and friends came to see the all-school performance on January 18, 2013 at University of St. Catherine’s O’Shaughnessy Auditorium in St. Paul.
To honor our volunteers, we gather each year in our gymnasium for a buffet breakfast and program.
This fall, Jae Haile Phillips and his dance partner, FSMN parent Hannah Esparza, came to Friends School for a week-long Latin dance residency. Jai taught merengue, salsa, hip-hop, fusion (a combination of salsa and hip-hop) with all of the steps and complexity that each of these dances demands.
Each year, Friends School of Minnesota creates a performance around its Quaker values and the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year’s performance was on January 13, 2012 at O’Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University in St. Paul. The celebration focused on the Quaker values of justice and integrity and how Dr. King’s work embodied those values.
