First and second grade students have been studying insects in science and art. We watched butterflies and mealworms go through complete metamorphosis. We closely observed every stage in this process and recorded our observations using both pictures and words in science journals. Kindergarten, first and second graders had a great trip to Zweber Family Farm last week. The weather was perfect and all the children had a great time running and playing at the farm and meeting all the animals.
Science takes on many forms in first and second grade and is an important way for young children to explore the world, nurture their curiosity and develop skills of observation, investigation, and thinking.
My class loves Project Time! Each week, children have the opportunity to work with various materials in the classroom to express their ideas and learn by doing.
