We are the Middle School Student Council, and we are doing a product drive and looking to recruit volunteers for Project Home during the entire month of March.
Project Home is an organization made up of volunteers that houses homeless families for 30 days per site in local churches. They support the overflow from Homeless Shelters. People of all ages stay there.
Personal Products Needed
Homeless people do not always have personal care products on hand such as:
- deodorant, etc.
For our product drive, we are collecting personal care products to be dropped off at Friends School of Minnesota. They will be distributed to the people staying at a project home site in March. There will be a box near the front office for collecting products.
While full-size packages and bottles are generous, it is easier to distribute travel size or hotel products.
Friends School of Minnesota is located at 1365 Englewood Avenue in St. Paul.
Project Home is also in need of volunteers to help out at the host church during the month of March. The March location is the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer 285 N. Dale St (just south of Dale & 94)
There are two shifts – an evening shift and an overnight shift:
- The evening shift is from about 5:30-8:30 p.m. If you volunteer, you will help with kids, talk with the adults, give out snacks, and help out in other ways needed.
- You could also do the overnight shift, which goes from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m, Sunday-Thursday, or 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday. For the overnight shift, you sleep there and help out with any problems if they arise.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
