What are middle schoolers doing with those buckets at recess? It’s a bit dry this fall and new trees need a little help getting established.

Last year, students of all ages helped the Hamline-Midway Environment Group and the St. Paul Parks and Recreation Department  plant trees at Horton Park for Arbor Day 2012. The 5th grade students studied and created tags and information labels for over 50 species.

This year, in coordination with Karl Mueller, the arborist from the City of St. Paul, middle school students are helping to water the trees every Friday at recess.
