Kindergarteners took their first walking trip of the year to the community gardens.  One of my goals this year is to take kindergarteners on weekly mini-trips to learn about the environment.

Friends School of Minnesota is lucky enough to have a lovely community garden just a few blocks from school. Kindergarteners packed “nature bags” with sketch books, pencils, and magnifying glasses and we headed out.

Finding cozy places to sit and observe.
It was a fine fall day – perfect for getting outside and exploring our neighborhood and gardens.
Everyone picked a spot among the food and flowers, and sketched their favorite observations.

We are looking forward to visiting our neighborhood gardens again to see how they change with the seasons!
